I missed a meeting with my class just now. My school is in Atlantic time and I'm over here on the West coast, so not having the right time set on my calendar is a fairly easy mistake to make, except that my professor sent multiple reminders and I just didn't double check everything this morning. I thought I had it figured out, and I didn't.
It's not a big deal. I won't fail because I missed one class, but it is a sign that I've filled my brain with too much stuff again, like trying to fit a mansion's worth of furniture into a VW bug. I do it to myself, of course. I add one too many projects onto my schedule and the entire stack collapses. And in the end, I miss an important meeting, I fall behind on several deadlines, or nothing gets done. Being overwhelmed and taking on too much is a very reversed seven of wands place to be. Let's see what I can do about it, shall we?
Upright, the Seven of Wands is about standing up for your beliefs and defending what matters most to you.
Reversed, this card could mean giving up, giving in, admitting defeat, or feeling too overwhelmed to take any action in a difficult situation. Questions answered by the reversed Seven of Wands: Who? The overwhelmed person What? A losing battle; a waste of time Where? A debate; a meeting When? The middle of August; After defeat Why? “There’s always some relief in giving up.” ~Lauren Oliver Yes or No? No The reversed Seven of Wands as: …an action?
…a place in your house?
…a place in your city?
…a place in the world?
…something to eat?
…something to clean?
…where to find your missing item?
…a color? Orange, indigo …a movie theme? Giving up; changing beliefs
…a new career?
The reversed Seven of Wands Before any card: Give up on (card) After any card: Powerlessness; an unwinnable battle
So that's it, I guess. I should drink a smoothie and write a self-help book. I do have something in the works right now that I'll announce probably next week, but it's not really enough to make up for the class that I missed. I have a feeling I'll feel pretty defeated about my reversed seven of wands blunder all day.

I was planning to release a book at the end of May, the second in my paranormal romance series, but it kept getting delayed. I could blame a million outside things - schoolwork, kids, dog, work, a pandemic, whatever, but the fact is I just didn't do it.
I will, soon. I'm still plugging away at it, but the more days go by where it's not done, the more frustrated I get. I could have had a million accolades and a huge fandom by now! Ha ha, I'm kidding about the fandom. But failure to achieve the success one dreams of is a very reversed six of wands way to be. I shall continue to work on it. Perhaps someday soon I will have my upright six of wands moment.
Upright, the Six of Wands is the card of victory, success, and recognition from others.
Reversed, it often means a failure to achieve success, or not receiving the accolades one believes they deserve. It could indicate hot-headedness and frustration as well. Questions answered by the reversed Six of Wands: Who? The loser of the game What? A cancelled awards ceremony Where? A dive bar When? First week of August; After a loss Why? “There's nothing wrong with being a loser, it just depends on how good you are at it.” ~Billie Joe Armstrong Yes or No? I'm in therapy for my mental health. I don't try to hide it, I need it. Just like visiting my endocrinologist to monitor my type 1 diabetes, I visit my therapist to monitor my psychoses. Particularly now, when the world is in catastrophe but the minutiae must continue, that's when I need it most. A global pandemic threatens the lives of my kids - but look at that, the goddamn car payment is due again. How dare you, auto loan? Don't you know people are dying?!?!
It's those kinds of absurd things that I talk out with my therapist - I bitch about how I can't find the car payment money when what I really mean is that I can't manage the end of the world. She knows, she gets it. She lets me talk in circles for a full hour about whether or not I should go back to work so I can pay these stupid bills, but at the very end she'll say something benign like "go ahead and unfriend the anti-vaxxers today, you earned it" and I'll be like holy shit, how'd she know that would make me feel better? The five of wands reversed is one of these puzzling things - a profound and momentous historical event, a stupid little thing like a monthly bill, or both, or neither. It's a battle you must compromise on, or die defending. Good luck trying to figure out the meaning of this card for yourself. I suggest you ask your therapist.
The Five of Wands is one of the particularly difficult cards to interpret, both upright and reversed. It depends on the context and the question asked. When upright, it’s possible a conflict has arisen or may happen soon. Reversed, this card could indicate compromise or finding a solution to that conflict, but it could also imply battle fatigue – where the disagreement is unwinnable and the querant just wants to be done already. Questions answered by the reversed Five of Wands: Who? A shy person; an athlete who is frequently benched What? A cancelled sports game Where? Home base; An empty sports field When? July 21-30; When the disagreement stops Why? “The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” ~Chinese Proverb Yes or No? No The reversed Five of Wands as: …an action?

…a place in your city?

…something to eat?
…something to clean?
…where to find your missing item?

The air conditioner in my house is broken. I know it's a first world problem, but the recent heat wave (the second terrible heat wave of this year) almost killed me. I can't do another summer of this, and I can't get anyone in to fix the A/C, either. I've called four places where nobody had availability. Two other places came in to do free estimates, and they never called me back with their estimates.
I get it, HVAC technicians are rolling in the dough this season, as everyone scrambles for fancy expensive new air conditioning, and I'm just a lowly gal with a broken unit. It could take days to repair, and where is the money in that? It's a project nobody wants. Roughly translated, I am miserable about my broken home, which is a very reversed four of wands place to be. I'll be honest, I'm thinking of selling this house as-is and moving farther north. I'm dead serious. I've been searching real estate listings and found an ugly little place by the water on an island in Canada. It's only appeal is that it looks like temperatures might be mild year-round. That's literally all I need. While I sit here in my hot dining room, let's see what the reversed four of wands can suggest to take my mind off this heat.
The Four of Wands upright is joy, community, and togetherness.
Reversed, there are blocks or troubles surrounding one’s home environment, routines may be stifled, the home may be unhappy, or something is unstable. Questions answered by the reversed Four of Wands: Who? An ungrateful person What? A broken home Where? Outside the house When? Mid-April; Not until the issues are resolved Why? “To save your business, your job, your career, your relationship and your marriage. Choose to over communicate rather than not to communicate at all.” ~DJ Kyos Yes or No? Resolve issues before asking again The reversed Four of Wands as: …an action?
…a place in your house?
…a place in your city?
…a place in the world?
…something to eat?
…something to clean?
…where to find your missing item?
…a color? Green, dark blue; dark gray …a movie theme? Communication problems; transients

I just rewatched the Pursuit of Happyness the other day, so I guess I'll heat up a TV dinner and plan a trip to Russia, instead. I bet it's pretty cool there.
My youngest child was on an adventure this summer studying Engineering in the UK. This past weekend he was supposed to take the bullet train to Paris and see some sights, unfortunately due to a global curse that will go unmentioned, he instead had to return home to the USA early. It's a bummer for a variety of reasons - first and worst is that he missed out on seeing France. Second is that it cost me something like two grand to get him on a different flight, as I couldn't transfer his pre-booked France flight over to an earlier UK flight. (I did get an e-ticket credit for if we ever fly that airline again, but honestly who is going anywhere with this plague still haunting us?) and third it threw things for a bit of a loop here at home, because our other kid had a guest staying who was borrowing my youngest's car and room, so there was a bit of scramble to share when the kid got home. I am well aware that these are all first world problems, but it's an example of how the Three of Wands reversed can bring travel delays, home and work frustrations, and a need for help and cooperation. Here are some more tips: Upright, the Three of Wands indicates a time where conditions are favorable for success. The Three of Wands says your ship will come in! Reversed, several problems arise that makes success seem less likely. You might be too apprehensive to get started, you may lack planning and skills to move forward, or you might encounter too many obstacles and delays. Lastly, this card could indicate someone returning home after a long trip. Questions answered by the reversed Three of Wands: Who? Someone who is frustrated with a project What? A broken boat; an unfinished project; delays Where? Downtown; traffic When? The first week of April; After a stressful delay Why? “Delay is preferable to never.” ~Danish proverb Yes or No? It depends on the situation; after a wait The reversed Three of Wands as: …an action?

…a place in your city?
…a place in the world?
…something to eat?
…Something to clean?
…where to find your missing item?

The motherboard on my laptop completely fried. While I do save most of my stuff to the cloud, I use Scrivener for my books and it was just on my hard drive. I've lost access to about four months worth of work on a romance novel I was writing. I'll try to bring the laptop in somewhere for data recovery, but for now I'm just trying to figure out what I can do on my old laptop, which is still humming along. I don't know why I ever thought I needed a new one. Sure, the graphics on this feel like something out of the 1990s, but at least drawing cartoons on it isn't going to fry the motherboard.
My point is this - being stuck or having progress reversed due to uncontrollable factors is a very reversed two of wands place to be. Let's see what we can do to perk ourselves up.
The Two of Wands upright is the thoughtful planning before you commit to a project.
Reversed, there are a few interpretations for the Two of Wands. You may be feeling forced to make a decision too quickly. Alternatively, you’re feeling stuck due to factors outside yourself. You may also have to go inward to do some personal development before you can take action. Questions answered by the reversed Two of Wands: Who? Someone unable to get started What? An accident; a broken boat; indecision Where? The lake When? The last week of March; A couple of months wait Why? “No one can hit their target with their eyes closed.” ~ Paulo Coelho Yes or No? No The reversed Two of Wands as: …an action?
…a place in your house?
…a place in your city?
…a place in the world?
…something to eat?
…something to clean?
…where to find your missing item?

The reversed Two of Wands Before any card: a lack of options surrounding (card) After any card: Indecision; lack of planning; fear
So, I guess I'll give up, eat a bowl of ramen, and start a new job as a boat captain. Onward, sailors!
Lately I've been bingeing college admissions videos - anything related to acceptances, rejections, applications, the senior year of high school, it works. I'm watching documentaries, dramas, comedies, amateur youtube videos - if it's about college admissions, then you name the medium and I've seen it. This obsessions probably has a lot to do with my trying to get my last kid into school, but I've always enjoyed the genre. So, now that I'm through every possible story there is, the only thing left to do is write one! Unfortunately, I have deadlines for a bunch of other projects, plus three assignments due this month for my grad school degree, so my idea will just have to remain in stasis - it's just an idea for the time being. This delay - wanting to do something new and creative but being unable to start, is a very reversed Ace of Wands energy. Upright, the Ace of Wands is the birth of a new career, a bright idea, a new project being launched, or the spark of creativity.
Reversed, these fresh starts are delayed, and there is frustration and impatience. One might have no energy or enthusiasm, or there is plenty of inspiration but the querent is not grabbing at the opportunity. Questions answered by the reversed Ace of Wands: Who? An apathetic person; An arsonist What? A fire; A boring movie Where? A shack When? Later, now is not a good time. June through September, either the entire season of Summer (Northern Hemisphere) or Winter (Southern Hemisphere) Why? “The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.” ~Dorothy Parker Yes or No? No The reversed Ace of Wands as: …an action?

…a place in your city?
…a place in the world?

…something to clean?

I'm stupid-pleased to announce that Applied Tarot REVERSED is now available through Amazon worldwide!
If you've been carefully shuffling your deck and asking specific, everyday questions, but your cards keep popping out all criss-cross applesauce, askew, and wonkified, this book is for you! In Applied Tarot Reversed, we take the basic interpretations and -sometimes literally!- turn them on their heads. When it comes to reversed cards, some meanings are the negative of its upright form, some are positive, some are opposite, some are personal, and others are completely different. How are you supposed to choose what to eat for dinner when that happens?!? Read Applied Tarot Reversed and find out! Still confused? Here's the trusty old 79th card - reversed! - to explain it:
¿ What is the 79th card ?
Some Tarot decks have one or more extra Major Arcana cards. Often these are ultimate question cards, or have other specific names such as Gratitude, Artistry, or Ascension. Or occasionally, if you're like me, you’ll forget to remove a junk "joker" card before shuffling a brand new deck, and it will pop up in a reading. You can use that as your 79th card. Reversed, unless detailed in the book that comes with your particular deck, it has similar interpretations to upright, or it can be more personal, or more negative. Who? Who do you think? What? What do you think? Where? Wherever When? Maybe never Why? “We live in the world our questions create” ~David Cooperrider How: You figure it out Yes or No? Maybe! An action? Think more about your situation Place in your house, city, or world? Yes! Looking for a job, food, color? Keep looking! Movie? Something you’re ambivalent about watching – you might be surprised What should I clean? Whatever you’d like Where is my missing item? Unknown 79th Card reversed combinations: Any combination with this card turns the answer back into a question. For example, if you asked "what career should I look into" and pulled the Hierophant and the 79th card, your conscious mind might jump in and say "I love church! I could work there!" but ponder it a bit - you might realize you'd come to hate church if you were forced to attend it for work. The 79th card asks you to think about it. ¿
Wow! That 79th card didn't explain anything at all. Aren't you glad that card exists in your deck? It's almost completely useless, but it makes you think. Maybe. Hopefully.
There is no thinking involved when it comes to the Applied Tarot Reversed. Just buy it before it's gone forever*. Here are some links to a few international sites:
*It's not going anywhere. I don't know why I said that.
Read Applied Tarot Reversed and then let me know what you think!
I've finally finished all of Applied Tarot Reversed, so this week I have to fix some formatting, create the cover, and get it published. I'm hoping to have it out by the end of July. That's three months later than I was originally planning for, but not being able to finish is a very World Reversed way to do things. Incompletion is my signature style. The World upright is achievement, completion, and feeling whole. When the card is reversed, it often means that completion is within reach, but there is something standing in the way. There are a few other reversed meanings that might be happening here:
Questions answered by The World Reversed: Who? A person unable to move on What? Nothing; unfinished projects Where? Nowhere; a place of stagnation When? The end of the year; Capricorn; during delays Why? “Ten years from now, make sure you can say that you chose your life, you didn’t settle for it.” ~Unknown Yes or No? No; possibly, after work is done The Reversed World Before any card: Delays and issues with (card) After any card: incompletion; immigration; problems The World Reversed as: …an action?
